COACH MOROCCO ENCOURAGES A GOOD FINISH TOWARDS THE RETURN MATCH WITH DRC
DAR ES SALAAM: The coach of the national football team, Taifa Stars, Hemed Suleiman, has emphasized the importance of improving finishing skills to strengthen the team’s performance before the return game against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which will be held at the Stadium of Benjamin Mkapa, Dar es Salaam.
Suleiman made the statement immediately after arriving in Dar es Salaam yesterday, showing great hope for his team to do well in this game to complete the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Taifa Stars have started their AFCON qualification campaign strongly, with a goalless draw against Ethiopia and a 2-1 win against Guinea.
However, the team suffered a setback in the first leg of the return leg, where they lost 1-0 against DRC.
Currently, in Group H, DRC holds the first place with nine points, while Tanzania occupies the second place with four points. Ethiopia is in third place with one point, and Guinea is in last place with no points.
Coach Suleiman’s message
“In the last game, we had many chances but our attackers were not focused in front of the goal. We lacked the efficiency to finish those chances, and that is the part we need to improve,” Suleiman stressed.
Discussing Thursday’s defeat, Suleiman said: “We continue to practice to improve the areas that were not right. Football is a collective effort, and we cannot blame the players; overall they did a good job.”
When he recalled their victory against Guinea, Suleiman said: “In that game, we celebrated our victory together as a team. Now, after losing, we have to continue to help each other. It is important to learn from our mistakes and come together as a dedicated group, fighting for the honor of our country.”
Rematch Expectations
Towards the return game, there are high expectations from football fans and stakeholders in Tanzania. Suleiman believes that the current training will prepare the players to commit more and improve their ability to finish. Taifa Stars needs to show quick changes and strengthen technical strength to win against DRC.
To deal with DRC, the team will need to focus on defensive and attacking strategies, while focusing on finishing opportunities. Players should be more careful, especially in the final stage of the game, to increase the chance of emerging victorious.
